Kernersville's hidden gem

I'm a southern girl, born and raised, who got married in 2015. Looking back on my wedding day there are a handful of things I regret, mostly my choice of nail color (lavender and teal? REALLY, HAYLEY?!?), our DJ, and not hiring a videographer. If you built a wedding Pinterest board between the years 2012 and 2018, you probably had a least one photo of an outdoor ceremony in front of an old weathered barn and probably a dozen more showing off some very chic mason jar flower vases. Well guess who got married in front of a barn and had mason jar flower vases!

When Nicolette of Grace Filled Gathering Co. reached out to me about planning a styled shoot together, I was over the moon! I'm an introvert, so being the first person to start a friendship is a little bit of a challenge for me. I had been following Nicolette on Instagram for some time and aaaalmost messaged her more than once, but chickened out every time. Nicolette is lead to serve couples by helping them plan Christ-centered wedding celebrations, so I knew we would be a good fit for each other!

I met Nicolette at a local coffee shop to get to know one another and discuss her vision for the shoot - natural earth tones, soft florals, and organic elements of wood and metal... EXACTLY my vibe! She told me her goal was to bring together Christian vendors to create a styled shoot showcasing a new venue in Kernersville, North Carolina, the Event at Two Ten, and I was so pleased that she had chosen me as the lead photographer! Imposter syndrome is real, y'all.

In 2015, my wedding venue options were limited to barns, overpriced hotel ballrooms, or even more expensive venues in the bigger cities over an hour away, none of which really fit the vision I had for my own wedding day. My husband and I wanted to keep things simple. We were fortunate enough to know a family with a barn and enough land for a backyard wedding, and hosted our reception in the Main Building of Greensboro College, where we met! As far as weddings go, it was exactly what we wanted, but I WISH there had been a place like The Event at Two Ten for us!

The Event at Two Ten is a modern industrial venue that is FULL of huge factory windows, which bring in the most beautiful light all day! The main ceremony backdrop is floor to ceiling sheer curtains that soften the brick and metal features found in the rest of the space. There is a beautiful brick courtyard and two halls outside of the main space that are perfect for hosting cocktail hour for wedding guests while the ceremony is flipped to a reception space. Smaller weddings could even use the brick and stone fireplace as the backdrop, especially in winter! One of my favorite areas is the mezzanine overlooking the main room. The black railing is wonderful for creating lead lines, and it would be a perfect lounge space for the new husband and wife! If you're looking for a venue in the Triad area, The Event at Two Ten is definitely worth a look!

I am so excited to share what we created here! Thank you to ALL of the vendors that helped bring Nicolette's vision to life!
